HARRISBURG –Rep. Barry Jozwiak (R-Berks) and Sen. Dave Argall (R-Berks/Schuylkill) announced today that the Jefferson Township Operating Engineers Local 542 JATC were awarded $745,000 in funding provided by Pennsylvania’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP), which will be used to make renovations to their training facility.

“It is always great to see projects in our area benefit from these grant awards as it not only allows businesses to improve, grow and flourish, but our communities as well,” said Jozwiak. “I am glad to have been able to personally advocate for these specific funds for Local 542 and look forward to seeing the completion of this project.”

The project calls for the demolition and replacement of two existing structures at the IUOE training facility. The two new dormitories will each house 15 students in the training program, and include HVAC and proper electrical, plumbing, and fire suppression systems. The purchase of two excavators is included with this project.

“I’m thankful this highly competitive funding was awarded to support the development of the next generation of heavy equipment operators in Berks County and beyond,” said Argall.

The purpose of Pennsylvania’s RACP funding is to support critical expansion projects, providing opportunities for additional employment training, job creation and community services throughout the Commonwealth.
