HARRISBURG – State Rep. Barry Jozwiak (R-Berks) today in Harrisburg issued the following statement after Gov. Tom Wolf delivered his annual budget address to a joint session of the General Assembly:
“The governor’s proposal touched on a lot of issues, but it failed to address the No. 1 issue in Berks County: school property taxes. We need leadership from the governor if we’re going to overhaul education funding and eliminate school property taxes.
“There are areas in the governor’s proposal where I think we’re going to be able to work together. Promoting job training and combatting the opioid crisis are two of the big issues where I think legislators share some common ground with the governor.
“Public safety is very important, so I was pleased to see the governor wants to fund three new classes of Pennsylvania State Police cadets.
“We’re going to review the governor’s proposal, look for ways to save taxpayers money and try to identify better ways to accomplish the Commonwealth’s goals.”
